Novena

Novena in preparation for the pilgrimage

Day 1

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Proverbs 3:5–12 (Douay-Rheims)

“Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence. In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps. Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil: For it shall be health to thy navel, and moistening to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits: And thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall run over with wine. My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him: For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth: and as a father in the son he pleaseth himself.”

Prayer

Our Lady of Christendom and Our Lady of Evesham, you who watch over all who seek your Son, look upon us with motherly care as we prepare for this pilgrimage. God knows the depths of our hearts and leads us on every path, may we journey with confidence in His love and guidance. Strengthen us as we prepare for this pilgrimage and may we surrender to the journey He has prepared for us. May this pilgrimage be a time of profound discovery, where we come to know God more intimately and feel His nearness in every step. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Evesham

Virgin most holy, Mother of the Word Incarnate.
Treasurer of graces. Refuge of sinners.
We fly to your maternal love with lively faith
and we ask you to obtain for us grace
ever to do the will of God.
Into your most holy hands
we commit the keeping of our hearts,
beseeching you for health of soul and body
in the certain hope that you,
our most loving mother,
will hear our prayer.
Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Day 2

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Genesis 12:1-4 (Douay-Rheims)

“And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, into the land that I will shew thee. And I will make of thee a great nation; and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee; and the man that shall curse thee, I will curse. And all the families of the earth shall be blessed in thee. So Abram went forth, as the Lord had commanded him…”

Prayer

O gentle Mother, Lady of Evesham and Our Lady of Christendom, you who inspire pilgrims to journey toward Christ with faith and love, we seek your maternal guidance as we prepare for this pilgrimage. Just as God called Abraham to go forth into the unknown, remind us that we pilgrims journeying towards our true home in God for all eternity. Fill our hearts with courage and faith, and bless this journey so that it may bear fruit in virtues for God’s glory. Amen.

Day 3

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Matthew 6:25–34 (Douay-Rheims)

Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they? And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit? And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.  And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith? Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself.”

Prayer

O Lady of Evesham and Our Lady of Christendom, we entrust ourselves to your care, trusting in your intercession for everything that we need. Just as you carried the Lord in your womb, carry us through the moments of anxiety that we may encounter. Help us to rely on God’s providence and mercy, trusting that we are never alone in our journey. Help us to fix our eyes to Your Son and in all that we do, to seek His Kingdom first knowing that everything will be added unto us. Amen.

Day 4

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Isaiah 40:28–31 (Douay-Rheims)

“Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom. It is he that giveth strength to the weary, and increaseth force and might to them that are not. Youths shall faint, and labour, and young men shall fall by infirmity. But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Prayer

Our Lady, you are our Mother and our comfort. Help us to rely on the promise of renewed strength and unwavering hope in God’s providence. Let no fatigue or hardship keep us from walking faithfully on this path God has set before us. Grant us the courage to keep going, even when we grow tired, and bless us with the joy that comes from walking in faith. May our journey be a reflection of our love for God, steadfast and unwavering. Amen.

Day 5

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Luke 24:13-16, 30-32 (Douay-Rheims)

“And behold, two of them went, the same day, to a town which was sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, named Emmaus. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that while they talked and reasoned with themselves, Jesus himself also drawing near, went with them. But their eyes were held, that they should not know him.
And it came to pass, whilst he was at table with them, he took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him: and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to the other: Was not our heart burning within us, whilst he spoke in this way, and opened to us the scriptures?”

Prayer

O Lord, come walk beside us as You did with the disciples on the road to Emmaus. May Your presence bring us peace and joy that no one else can give. Help us to open our eyes to see You clearly in the ordinary moments of ourlives. May we recognise You in everyone we meet and see them the way Your Mother see them. And in recognising You, let our hearts burn within us for love of You. Amen.

Day 6

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (Douay-Rheims)

“For this cause we faint not; but though our outward man decay, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for a moment, worketh for us above measure an eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at those which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Prayer

My Lord and my God, remind us always in times of struggle that our suffering is temporary and that we walk by faith, not by sight. Help us to offer up every challenge, suffering, and pain in union with You at the Cross and Our Lady at the foot of the Cross. Let our trials be for Your Glory and bring us closer to Your Most Sacred Heart. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Philippians 4:4-9 (Douay-Rheims)

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice. Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. Be nothing solicitous; but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things. The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Prayer

O Blessed Mother, fill our hearts with a joyful anticipation of our upcoming pilgrimage. Help us to rejoice always, to cast all our worries on You, and to pray with a thankful heart. God has promised us a future filled with peace, and we pray to find that peace in our pilgrimage. May this journey bring us closer to Christ and inspire in us a deeper hope for His promises. And let this pilgrimage be an expression of our praise to Your Son. Amen.

Day 8

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Romans 12:1–5 (Douay-Rheims)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and the acceptable, and the perfect will of God. For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety, and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith. For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office: So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”

Prayer

O Blessed Virgin, assist us that we may offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to God during this time of pilgrimage. May our pilgrimage be filled with grace, peace, and the joy of being in His presence. Help us to walk with courage, patience, and love, knowing that Christ goes before us and that you, dear Mother, are with us. May our journey be blessed with a deepened faith, a renewed spirit, and an unbreakable union with Your Son. Amen.

Day 9

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.

Revelation 21:1-4 (Douay-Rheims)

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth was gone, and the sea is now no more. And I John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice from the throne, saying: Behold the tabernacle of God with men, and he will dwell with them. And they shall be his people, and God himself with them shall be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away.”

Prayer

Our Lady of Evesham and Our Lady of Christendom, on this final day of our novena, we ask for your powerful intercession as we approach our pilgrimage in faith. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, and with that assurance, we set out with peace in our hearts. Help me to walk in the assurance of Your love, looking forward to the joy of dwelling with You for all eternity. In all our days, and in every step, may we remember that God’s love sustains us. We entrust our pilgrimage to your care, O Blessed Virgin, and ask for your guidance now and forever. Amen.
